Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano and San Gimignano

Tuscany, Italy is one of the most picturesque places in the world. Filled with rolling hills and winding roads, it’s no surprise that some of the most iconic historical sites can be found here.

Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano and San Gimignano are among the oldest cities in all of Italy and are a must see for any traveler. Montalcino is known for its illustrious winemaking history, with vineyards surrounding every hillside. The city itself is steeped in medieval architecture from its famous fortress to its grand churches. While there you can take wine tours around the area or explore local shops within the city walls. Pienza has been called “the ideal Renaissance town” thanks to its symmetrical streets and beautiful buildings.
