Merzouga, Morocco

Merzouga, a small village in southeastern Morocco, serves as the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Situated approximately 9 hours from Marrakesh and 7.5 hours from Fes, reaching Merzouga is no easy feat. However, the unique experience of visiting the Sahara makes the long journey worthwhile.

Merzouga is renowned for its proximity to the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes. Standing at up to 500 feet high, these dunes offer an incredible backdrop for various desert activities. Safety is a priority here, with no rebel tribes in the area, making it a secure destination for globetrotters like me (The Globetrotter GP).
